Tupalang dam: safety monitoring goes automatic

Italian manufacturer Sisgeo has described the upgrade of the monitoring instrumentation at the Tupalang dam, carried out under a national programme to modernise dam monitoring systems.

Readings used to be taken by hand. Now 5 OMNIAlog dataloggers with 21 multiplexers and 44 wireless nodes around the reservoir collect the data. Pressure and seepage are measured by 56 vibrating-wire piezometers, 8 pressure transducers and 10 automatic V-notch seepage flow meters.

The decades-old vibrating-wire sensors were checked and kept in service. The system was installed by our partner Gidrotexmonitoring under the supervision of Sisgeo engineers; data reach its software platform in real time.
